Jalonny Billingsley Shines in Playoff Victory for Simeon

Simeon sophomore wide receiver Jalonny Billingsley embraces every chance to perform. As an amateur photographer and aspiring actor, he finds the football field to be his ultimate stage. ‘When I’m out there, it’s like acting on a stage, except it’s real,’ he expressed. ‘It’s all or nothing.’

On Saturday, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Billingsley showcased his talent during Simeon’s 36-11 win over Lindblom. This victory occurred in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs at Stagg Stadium in Chicago. Billingsley played a crucial role by catching a 24-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Aki King.

King contributed further to the team’s success by throwing another touchdown. He connected with senior wide receiver Elijah Welch for a 52-yard score. This performance sets up Simeon (5-5) for a first-round matchup against Oak Lawn (7-2) next weekend.

Lindblom (5-5) found some solace with junior safety Justice Howell, who scored on a remarkable 101-yard interception return. However, Billingsley’s performance against them was one of the game highlights.

Billingsley, drawing interest from universities like Kentucky and Miami, ended the game with four catches for 74 yards. ‘We’ve been playing together for seven years now, from youth football onwards,’ King mentioned. ‘I trust him completely on the field. Whenever things get tough, he’s there to help.’
