More than 26 million Americans have cast their votes ahead of the midterm elections. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were among them, having voted in Florida on Saturday before the president attended a campaign rally in Georgia.
According to NBC News, the voting breakdown includes 14.3 million mail-in ballots and 12.5 million early in-person votes, totaling around 26.8 million. The Trumps cast their ballots at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach. After voting, Trump, sporting an “I Voted” sticker, affirmed his support for Republican candidates. He confirmed voting along party lines, stating, “Very much so.”
This voting step coincides with Trump’s efforts to rally support for Republican candidates nationwide, particularly in Florida. Trump has endorsed Representative Byron Donalds for governor, opposing Democrat David Jolly, and Senator Ashley Moody, who is up against Democratic state lawmaker Angie Nixon.
Later on Saturday, Trump planned to campaign in Georgia for Republican Senate candidate Mike Collins and gubernatorial hopeful Rick Jackson. This visit marks his second rally in Georgia within eight days, aiming to drive Republican voter turnout before the November 3 election.
Trump also addressed media queries after voting, defending a controversial campaign ad by Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and his administration’s legal stance on the Alaska Senate race. Discussing the conflict in Iran, Trump mentioned both military solutions and possible negotiations, remarking, “I may have to finish it off. Or maybe they’ll make a deal, but I’m not sure. Either way, we win.”
First Lady Melania Trump was asked about a potential visit to Ukraine, considering her involvement in humanitarian aid efforts in Oleshky. She remarked, “We will see.”
