Travis Kelce Adds to His Storied NFL Career Despite Chiefs’ Loss

Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce achieved another significant milestone in his NFL career on Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Despite the 20-3 loss marking the Chiefs’ first defeat of the 2026 season, Kelce’s performance still stood out.

Though the Chiefs’ offense lacked the brilliance of previous games, Kelce made a mark by catching four passes for 44 yards. These receptions were crucial as they propelled him past Chris Carter and Marvin Harrison on the NFL’s all-time receptions list. Kelce now ranks fifth in this esteemed category.

His historic catch, a 19-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter, was the longest of the night for Kelce. The tight end celebrated this achievement with a characteristic fist pump.

Currently, Kelce follows Jerry Rice (1,549 receptions), Larry Fitzgerald (1,432), Tony Gonzalez (1,325), and Jason Witten (1,228) on the all-time list. He is 446 receptions away from surpassing Rice’s record. Kelce has averaged 90 receptions per season throughout his 12-year career, making it challenging to reach Rice’s total, but he remains within reach of Witten’s mark.

Sunday night also saw Kelce making history by becoming the tight end with the most receiving yards in NFL history. With 15,420 yards, including both regular season and playoffs, Kelce edged past Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez, who held 15,413 yards. With 11 more weeks left in the season, Kelce will likely expand this record, making it even more challenging for future players to surpass.
