Georgia Pair Charged with Murder After Bartender’s Remains Found

Authorities have charged two individuals in Georgia with murder following the discovery of a bartender’s dismembered remains in a lake. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42. The two are accused of killing Jamal Rashad Parker, 37, at a home outside Atlanta.

Parker’s remains were found in May in the Dog River Reservoir, located about 30 miles from Atlanta. Investigators used DNA technology to confirm his identity. This was after Parker’s father reported that his son’s tattoos matched those on the victim, as stated by local station WSB-TV.

The investigation suggests Parker was killed at Brittany Baker’s residence in Douglasville. Late last month, authorities reportedly removed a reciprocating saw and cleaning supplies from the home.

Police have not confirmed the nature of Parker’s relationship with the suspects. However, a GoFundMe page indicates he knew them and trusted them, according to a family member’s description.

Jamal Rashad Parker is remembered as a bartender, musician, and artist, described as having “a beautiful soul and spirit.” He worked at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta and was known for his musical and artistic talents.

The suspects appeared in court, pleading not guilty and are being held without bond. Both have extensive criminal histories. Parker’s father, Charles Parker, expressed his outrage outside the courthouse, demanding severe punishment for those responsible.

The family created a GoFundMe page to help with Parker’s burial costs. The message on the page describes the emotional impact of his loss, noting his love for life, music, and the connections he made throughout his journey.
