The strikes focused on disrupting access to Bandar Abbas, a vital port on the Strait of Hormuz. By targeting key transportation links, the U.S. aims to interrupt the movement of military supplies and essential goods for Iran’s population.
The U.S. Central Command confirmed dozens of targets were hit in these operations, which have extended over six nights. These actions included the destruction of a tower at Iran’s Chabahar port, an important trade route for Afghanistan. Images circulated on social media and shared by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth highlighted the tower’s collapse. Although Iranian media did not immediately comment on the tower, they acknowledged ongoing strikes on the facility.
Iran Retaliates Against U.S. Allies
In response, Iran launched missile strikes on Qatar, warning the public to seek shelter amidst the attacks. Qatar’s Interior Ministry reported a child injured by falling debris. Hostilities from Iran extended to Bahrain and Kuwait, while Jordan also intercepted incoming missiles. Explosions were reported in Iraq’s Kurdish region as defenses tackled incoming fire.
