Trump Discusses History and Personal Insights on Children’s Podcast

President Donald Trump recently participated in a podcast hosted by Second Lady Usha Vance, titled “Storytime with the Second Lady.” The podcast, which involves reading picture books to children, featured Trump reading from “Presidents Play!” This book, by the White House Historical Association, offers a look at presidents engaging in sports and leisure activities in White House surroundings.

The episode, recorded in mid-June, shows Trump in the Oval Office, surrounded by gold accents, alongside props like a bald eagle stuffed animal and a Lego globe. During the session, Trump gave remarks about past presidents and shared insights about his own experiences.

Insights on Past Presidents

As Trump turned the pages, he remarked on several former presidents. He called Lyndon Johnson a “tough cookie” and complimented Ronald Reagan as a “high-quality person.” Regarding John F. Kennedy, he noted him as the “second-most good-looking president,” leaving the ambiguity about the first. Nixon, known for resigning post-Watergate, “got himself into trouble, I guess.” Herbert Hoover, shown playing “Hoover Ball,” was mentioned in a quip about his presidency versus his economic policies.

When discussing Barack Obama, illustrated in the book playing basketball, Trump expressed doubt about his basketball skills. He noted golf as Obama’s favorite sport, adding he doesn’t foresee him competing in a professional golf tournament soon. On seeing Bill Clinton depicted jogging, Trump said he likely wouldn’t follow suit but mentioned his favorable opinion of Clinton.

Personal Commentary and Health Advice

Trump reflected on the idea of horseback riding, inspired by an illustration of Abraham Lincoln. He contemplated the risks, humorously suggesting a slow, lazy horse might suit him. Seeing Gerald Ford swimming drew a remark about not wearing a bathing suit for some time.

William Howard Taft’s weight was also a topic, with Trump expressing the need to maintain health, humorously acknowledging the record of Taft being the heaviest president.

Trump also offered health advice, encouraging young listeners to stay fit, reflecting on physical activity shown in the book. He stressed the importance of staying in shape and cautioned about potential weight gain.

Message for Children and Reflections on America
