Samantha Busch, wife of the late NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, recently expressed gratitude for the support her family received following his passing at 41 years old. In a statement on Instagram, Samantha, along with the couple’s children Brexton and Lennix, acknowledged the overwhelming kindness shown by fans during their time of grief.
“The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives,” they shared. “While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.”
Kyle Busch died on May 21 due to severe pneumonia that developed into sepsis, causing rapid complications. The family explained he had pneumonia for several days to weeks, and his sudden death left the NASCAR community in shock.
Busch reportedly believed he had a sinus cold while racing at Watkins Glen on May 10, even mentioning his need for medical treatment to his team after the race. Despite his illness, he continued to compete, notably winning a Truck Series race at Dover and participating in the All-Star race just days before his death. He also attended the opening of a go-kart track with his son Brexton shortly before passing away.
The Instagram post marks the family’s first statement since Busch’s death. Samantha wrote, “The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people.”
Samantha emphasized her gratitude, noting moments when the loss feels overwhelming, yet the support from friends, fans, and strangers alike continues to offer solace. “From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful,” she concluded.
Kyle Busch was celebrated for his achievements in NASCAR, having secured Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019 with Joe Gibbs Racing. A prominent figure in the sport, he set a record with 234 combined wins across NASCAR’s top three national series, including 63 Cup victories, 102 wins in the O’Reilly Auto Parts series, and 69 in Trucks.
