On Wednesday, President Donald Trump humorously asserted his authority as he arrived late for a meeting with global leaders at the G7 summit, held in Évian-les-Bains, France.
Upon entering the meeting, Trump jested with photographers present in the room. He quipped, “Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me.” Shortly afterward, members of the media were escorted out.
This gathering occurs as G7 leaders express their backing for Trump’s initial peace agreement with Iran. The accord aims to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
In a shared statement, the leaders commended President Trump’s “strong leadership” for achieving what they described as a “breakthrough.” They emphasized the significance of this agreement in offering a “historic opportunity to prevent Iran from acquiring any nuclear weapon.” The official signing of the deal is scheduled to happen on Friday.
