Lauren Silverman recently discussed her past experiences in an interview on “Happy Mum: The Podcast.” Reflecting on being pregnant with Simon Cowell’s child while married to Andrew Silverman, she recounted the complexities of that period.
“There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously,” she noted. Despite not feeling regretful, Silverman acknowledged a desire for things to have happened differently.
Silverman and Cowell’s relationship became public in 2013 after news of their expected child surfaced. This news created substantial media attention and led to her husband initiating divorce proceedings. Silverman expressed a wish to undo the hurt caused to her ex-husband and their son, Adam.
The intense media scrutiny made it difficult for Silverman to enjoy her pregnancy. “I was just so in fight or flight. I was just trying to get through it and just try to wake up every day,” she explained, reflecting on the constant attention.
Despite the public backlash, she recognized that Cowell was the person she wanted in her life. “However we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be,” she stated.
Acknowledging the criticism from others, she accepted, “I’m a big girl. I’ve got to suck it up and get on with it. And whatever’s coming at me, I deserve it,” she expressed.
Twelve years on, Silverman shared that she has worked on herself and forgiven her past mistakes. “I feel like whatever I put out there and whatever people are saying or thinking, it’s too bad. I don’t really care anymore,” she added.
Their son was born in February 2014, with Silverman and Cowell remaining together. Attributing significant life changes to becoming a father, Cowell mentioned how his son “saved him” during “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast. “It changed everything in my life. It made me happy again,” Cowell recounted.
