District Attorney David L. Lasee has filed two domestic misdemeanor charges against Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs. The decision follows the review of new evidence, specifically surveillance video from Jacobs’ garage related to the alleged domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend.
According to the incident report, Jacobs’ ex-girlfriend, referred to as ANM, alleged that Jacobs grabbed her, threw her to the ground, and took her phone during the altercation. The surveillance footage reportedly corroborates her account, showing both parties in the garage and Jacobs taking her phone.
Jacobs, who turned himself in on May 26, faces one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of criminal damage to property. This legal battle comes amid his team’s ongoing operations, as Jacobs remains a significant figure for the Packers.
The NFL has a history of strict responses to such incidents involving its players. Past examples include the case of Ray Rice, whose career ended following the release of a video showing a physical altercation with his partner.
The Packers released a statement affirming their awareness of the charges against Jacobs and their intention to cooperate with the NFL. The league’s investigation continues, and Jacobs might face further disciplinary actions, potentially being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, which would restrict him from playing while still receiving his salary.
