Kansas City Chiefs Consider Trade to Bolster Injured Wide Receiver Roster

The Kansas City Chiefs are facing significant challenges with their wide receiver lineup. Tyquan Thornton, the team’s second-leading receiver, sustained a severe ankle injury against the Las Vegas Raiders nearly two weeks ago. This injury is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Rashee Rice is managing hamstring and knee injuries, and both Jeff Caldwell and Jimmy Holiday have been on injured reserve since August. Currently, the healthy receivers for Kansas City include Xavier Worthy, who has 14 catches, 133 yards, and one touchdown; Jalen Royals, with three catches, 17 yards, and one touchdown; as well as Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio, who have yet to record a catch this season. This situation has prompted Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report to suggest the Chiefs should seek upgrades at the position.

“According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it’s ‘pretty well known around the league’ that Jeudy is available,” Knox noted. “Per Schultz, the Browns would prefer to get a third- or fourth-round pick in exchange for the receiver, though that may be difficult.”

Knox recently proposed that the Chiefs consider acquiring Jerry Jeudy from the Cleveland Browns. Jeudy is reportedly available according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, and Knox suggests a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick could facilitate the trade.

The Browns are said to prefer a third- or fourth-round pick for Jeudy. Despite his reduced role this year, with only eight catches for 81 yards in five games, Jeudy remains a promising option. He had made the Pro Bowl two years ago after amassing 1,229 yards and recording four touchdowns over the season.

In Kansas City, Jeudy would likely receive more opportunities than his current average of three targets per game in Cleveland. His presence would provide Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a dependable big-play receiver. This could potentially fill the gap after the trade of Tyreek Hill.
