Francesca Hong Leads New Wisconsin Poll
A recent poll conducted by State Navigate indicates Hong leading with 44% support, followed by Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley at 15%, and former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes with 14%. Single-digit support was recorded for other candidates. Among the 1,085 likely voters surveyed between July 23-26, 2026, 13% remained undecided. The poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse professor Anthony Chergosky remarked on Hong’s lead, attributing it to rising anti-establishment sentiment in Democratic primaries nationwide. Hong’s campaign is marked by grassroots efforts and online engagement. Her democratic socialism differentiates her from other candidates. However, a fragmented field of candidates running against her indicates difficulty for Democrats in consolidating support.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor Kathleen Dolan pointed out that the poll may not represent the overall state electorate, as it used a text-message approach with self-selected respondents. She noted that partisan voters might be more likely to respond, explaining Hong’s significant lead.

A Public Policy Polling survey commissioned by Crowley’s campaign gave Hong 35% support compared to Barnes’ 15% and Crowley’s 14%, surveying 708 likely voters from July 21-22, 2026. In Wisconsin’s primary system, a candidate can win with a plurality, meaning that Hong could succeed with less than 50% if the vote is split.
