LeBron James Joins the Philadelphia 76ers, Excites Allen Iverson

This past Friday, LeBron James ended his widely-followed free agency by announcing his move to the Philadelphia 76ers. His arrival adds to a franchise known for its rich NBA history, featuring all-time greats like Allen Iverson.

On Tuesday, Iverson appeared on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” to discuss James’ decision. Iverson expressed his excitement about James joining the team he represented for 12 NBA seasons. “Just ecstatic, man. You know I’m just happy for the city of Philadelphia,” Iverson said. “For the team, you know what I mean? The type of player he is, the type of person he is. I’m just happy, man. He brings a lot, you know what I mean? He really is the answer.”

James just completed his eighth and final season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 41-year-old star chose the 76ers over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Golden State Warriors. He signed a two-year deal worth $8 million, the veteran minimum. In his 24th NBA season, he joins a strong roster that includes Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.

“It’s ‘championship or bust’ with James on the roster,” Iverson commented.

“He just boosts the percentage of any team having a chance to win a championship,” Iverson added. “He’s one of them ones, man. You know what I mean? He’s The King for a reason.”
