Since 2021, Hong has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Her past social media posts and interview clips have resurfaced during her gubernatorial campaign. These comments often criticized “whiteness,” drawing renewed attention and criticism.

Fox News Digital reached out to Hong’s campaign for comment but did not receive an immediate response. Meanwhile, Hong aligns with prominent progressive figures such as Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and socialist streamer Hasan Piker. This alliance links her candidacy to a larger national progressive movement, which some Republicans say has moved too far left.
A recent rally featuring Hong and Omar drew criticism when attendees were required to show photo ID. The requirement sparked accusations of hypocrisy, given the left’s opposition to voter ID laws linked to the SAVE Act.
Wisconsin GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany criticized Hong, writing that she opposes voter ID, yet required it for her event with Ilhan Omar. Americans for Prosperity’s Matt Henkel echoed this sentiment, calling voter ID rules “draconian” yet remarking on their requirement for socialist gatherings.
Accusations of anti-white sentiments have surfaced, stemming from Hong’s past online posts. One such post from July 2019 described an uncomfortable encounter at a Culver’s restaurant. In another, she recounted experiences of being questioned about her origin by white individuals at her ramen bar.
Hong’s prior statements include calls to drastically reform police systems. In October 2021, she tweeted about the systemic role of police in upholding racial disparities, advocating for defunding and abolition over reform.
