Comedian Larry David Criticizes Trump’s UFC Event at White House

Comedian Larry David has strongly criticized President Donald Trump for organizing a UFC fight at the White House’s celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. David expressed feeling ’embarrassed to be an American’ following the event.

In an interview with Variety, David described the celebration as a ‘travesty,’ condemning the spectacle held on the South Lawn. The 78-year-old performer shared his growing sense of unpatriotism in response to the event.

‘It was embarrassing,’ stated David. ‘I was embarrassed to be an American.’

David’s comments coincided with the premiere of his new HBO series, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.” The show, debuting on June 26, features comedic sketches satirizing important moments in U.S. history. It includes appearances by celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Vince Vaughn, Rita Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Barack Obama.

Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, contributed to the series, with David praising the former president’s skills in improvisation.

The UFC Freedom 250 event celebrated Trump’s 80th birthday, drawing approximately 4,300 attendees, including 1,200 service members. It incorporated performances by the Marine Band, Zac Brown, and a flyover by the Navy’s Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds.

President Trump departed the White House to attend the G7 summit in France, stating to reporters that the event was unprecedented in the sports world.

Fox News Digital sought comment from the White House regarding the event.
