A recent graduate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business Indianapolis lost his life in a tragic incident on Thursday. Brett Scrogham, aged 23, was fatally shot, a crime that has left the community in shock.
According to WXIN, Scrogham had planned to attend an Indianapolis Indians baseball game with his family. He parked his car in a public garage, where witnesses later heard a gunshot and saw someone fleeing the scene. Police found Scrogham injured, and he succumbed to his wounds by Saturday.
The Indianapolis police have not released a detailed description of the suspect yet. However, they reported to Fox News Digital that the investigation is making significant progress.
Scrogham was celebrated as a top 100 undergraduate student by Indiana University Indianapolis last year. His LinkedIn page reflects his pride: “Honored to be recognized among such great peers! I’ve been blessed with experience and knowledge at the Kelley School of Business, and I look forward to future opportunities!” He worked as a development analyst at a commercial real-estate firm.
One of Scrogham’s friends, who shared college and faith experiences with him, described him as an extremely intelligent individual. “I thought he’d be running a company soon. He knew everyone and was friends with everyone,” the friend noted.
Scrogham’s recent wedding left a lasting impression on attendees. “He could’ve starred on ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” another friend, Stewart, commented about Scrogham’s dancing skills. “He was very smart and devoted to his faith. It’s unbelievable that such senseless violence claimed his life.”
This incident has fueled ongoing debates about violent crime in Indianapolis. The city’s Democratic Mayor, Joe Hogsett, expressed his condolences for Scrogham in a statement, emphasizing that violence in the community is unacceptable, especially when it ends innocent lives. He commended the police for their dedication to the case and encouraged the community to assist in the investigation.
