Senator Jon Ossoff has voiced criticism of President Donald Trump’s association with his aide Natalie Harp. During a rally held on Sunday, Ossoff accused Trump of prioritizing travel with Harp over fulfilling presidential duties.
The Democratic Senator’s remarks came while addressing the deployment length of U.S. Navy sailors stationed on aircraft carriers this year. Ossoff expressed concern over the president’s focus, claiming, “While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings.” He further accused Trump of engaging in personal interests, saying, “He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn’t want to do the job; he wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”
Harp, aged 35, was among the few aides accompanying Trump during a recent plane-swap. This change was due to a potential threat from an Iranian missile attack. Notably, Trump did not include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, or the White House press pool in this adjustment.
Adding to the controversy, Harp’s estranged brother, Preston Harp, labeled the relationship between his sister and Trump as “very unhealthy.” In an interview with The New York Times, he claimed his sister showed intense devotion to Trump, even leaving him admiring notes.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the White House were made by Newsweek via email, outside regular working hours.
