Max Miller, who formerly advised Donald Trump during his presidency, won his seat two years ago with slightly over 51% of the vote. The allegations could make Miller vulnerable, with Democrats pushing for his resignation and calling for a congressional ethics investigation. They suggest additional support for his opponent, Democrat Brian Poindexter, could be strategized before the fall elections.
The House Majority PAC, a political action committee supporting a Democratic majority, is monitoring the situation in this GOP territory. “HMP is willing to do whatever it takes to take back the House,” said spokesperson CJ Warnke.
Republican Unity and Response
So far, Republicans have continued to support Miller, citing his achievements for his district. However, Miller’s difficulties have not gone unnoticed by Trump’s advisors. They are closely watching the situation, with no current steps to replace Miller on the ballot. Miller’s ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Grisham, also filed a lawsuit in July, accusing him of breaching a confidential settlement. This followed her claims of abuse while they dated. She alleged in a lawsuit that Miller violated their agreement by linking her to his issues with Moreno.

For Poindexter, these controversies might provide leverage in the election, especially if conservative-leaning voters favor him or Republican voters withdraw support due to the allegations. Poindexter emphasized the importance of these issues receiving full legal attention, stating Miller’s seat should not be his main concern if the claims prove true.
Jim Trakas, former GOP state lawmaker, acknowledged the timing of these developments poses challenges for Miller, particularly during an already tough election year where focus should be on economic concerns.
