Ukraine has increased its aerial attacks, deploying drones deep within Russia. These strikes targeted a refinery in Russian-held Crimea and an oil tank in Moscow. Senior foreign affairs correspondent Greg Palkot reports that these actions aim to communicate a strong message as peace negotiations remain at a standstill.
Interpol has issued a red notice for Anastasiia Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian, suspected of bombing a Monaco apartment. This explosion, as media reported, injured Ukrainian-born construction magnate Vadym Yermolaiev. While Monaco’s public prosecutor, Stéphane Thibault, did not name the victims, reports speculate that a woman and a 13-year-old child also injured were Yermolaiev’s family members.

Berezovska is wanted on charges of attempted murder, deploying an explosive device on a public highway, and criminal association. Described as a dark-haired, German-speaking woman, she may also have a snake tattoo on her arm, according to Interpol. Initially, Berezovska was mistakenly identified as a heavy-set man by Monaco Deputy Prosecutor Morgan Raymond.
Raymond detailed that the suspect placed an explosive device on the building’s entrance steps before detonating it remotely, confirming the victims’ presence beforehand.
Russia launches nearly 600 missiles and drones on Kyiv, marking it the deadliest strike since May.
Prosecutors reviewed surveillance footage from the days before the explosion, noting repeated reconnaissance by a man in a fishing hat, absent on June 28. A woman, believed to be Berezovska, mirrored his actions then. Raymond highlighted the deliberate targeting of the victims based on her repeated surveillance and pauses near the building.
Investigators traced her escape route from Monaco to Germany, where authorities recently searched her Frankfurt apartment. Raymond suggested that the sophistication of the explosive device indicates that Berezovska did not act alone. He emphasized her operations appear coordinated with others.
The motive remains unclear, but Yermolaiev is a notable figure. Once a Ukrainian citizen, he became a Cypriot in 2019. In 2023, Ukraine sanctioned him for continuing business with Russia and facilitating transactions through his liquor venture in Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.
