Sydney Sweeney’s ‘Euphoria’ Scenes Spark Controversy

Sydney Sweeney, star of HBO’s ‘Euphoria,’ has faced criticism over new ‘freaky’ scenes in the show. On ‘Jesse Watters Primetime,’ Fox Business contributor Katrina Campins discussed the backlash against Sweeney’s provocative performances. Additionally, Jessica Simpson was reportedly seen flying first class to Hawaii, with her children traveling in coach.

Recently, Sweeney stirred controversy among athletes with her ad for the sports trading app Novig. The ad features her posing with sports equipment that obscures most of her nude body. Her phrase in the ad, “Think you know sports? Prove it. Novig is just sports. So, they wanted a show,” sparked debate.

Some female athletes voiced disapproval of the ad. They included Australian Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus, British sprinter Amy Hunt, and former gymnast Gracie Kramer. Titmus expressed her frustration on Instagram, questioning the continued monetization and sexualization of women’s sports. Hunt, after a race in Budapest, addressed Sweeney directly, emphasizing the hard work and dedication of female athletes. Kramer shared her anger, discussing the challenges female athletes face in being taken seriously.

Sydney Sweeney responded to the criticism by highlighting ESPN magazine covers of nude female athletes like Serena Williams and Ronda Rousey. Fox News Digital and OutKick contacted Sweeney and Novig for further comments.

In another instance, Sweeney was also criticized last year for her collaboration with American Eagle for their fall campaign. The ongoing debates highlight the tensions between commercial representation and the portrayal of female athletes.
