Officials have reported that wildfires in the Spokane region have destroyed more than 700 structures. As of Monday afternoon, these fires have covered more than 8,000 acres.
The blazes have forced the evacuation of approximately 65,000 residents. The fires were reported by Morgan Chesky, Sossy Dombourian, and Nicole Acevedo at 6:56 PM EDT on August 3, 2026, with updates at 7:22 PM EDT.
Ken Anderson witnessed embers, each the size of a 50-cent coin, falling from the sky, along with ash and strong winds, while standing in his driveway.
