Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Dick Durbin from Illinois offered to promptly meet with Jennifer Bos, an Angel Mom, after her remarks during Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s confirmation hearing. Bos and other Angel Parents have long pushed for immigration reform and expressed feeling ‘completely ignored.’
During her testimony, Jennifer Bos, whose daughter’s body was found in a bleach-filled container, described the challenges Angel Families face when advocating for stricter immigration enforcement. These families have been affected by crimes involving illegal immigrants. Bos’s testimony highlighted the Trump administration’s focus on violent crime and immigration enforcement.
Bos appeared before the Senate to support Todd Blanche’s nomination as Attorney General. Durbin, eager to address her concerns, stated, “Miss Bos, anxious to meet with you. I hope we can do it soon, maybe right after this.”
Bos’s testimony was the first interaction she had with Sen. Durbin. During an exchange with Sen. Katie Britt, Bos conveyed her difficulties in connecting with lawmakers. Britt expressed her hope that Attorney General Blanche and others would engage with victims like Bos.
Bos voiced her frustration over several legislative proposals being ignored by Democratic officials. She explained the struggle to discuss these issues, especially with those opposed to the proposed legislation.
At the hearing’s end, Sen. Durbin offered to meet with Bos immediately, acknowledging the difficulty of her journey from Illinois to testify. “I didn’t know it was a hardship for you to make this journey here, testify,” Durbin said, offering to meet with her without further delay.
Jennifer Bos shared with senators the “unbearable agony” her family experienced following the discovery of her daughter, Megan Bos, in a decomposed state in April 2025. The Lake County Coroner’s Office could not determine her cause of death. The alleged involvement of illegal immigrant Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez added to the complexity of the case. He was released initially due to Illinois laws and later captured by ICE.
Bos praised Todd Blanche for assisting when local officials could not secure justice. She confirmed ICE’s Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office provided her comfort after her daughter’s alleged killer’s release. She urged the committee to confirm Blanche to prevent further tragedies.
Mendoza-Gonzalez remains in federal custody for charges related to his immigration status, alongside state charges linked to Megan Bos’s death. Fox News Digital reached out to Durbin’s office for further comments.
