Second Fatality Confirmed After Grand Canyon Floods

Grand Canyon National Park officials have confirmed the death of a second person following severe flash flooding over the weekend. These floods impacted a remote section of the park popular with hikers and campers.

As of Monday, more than a dozen individuals remain unaccounted for, with search and recovery operations underway. Efforts are focused along Bright Angel Creek, which stretches from the canyon’s north rim to the Colorado River.

The National Park Service highlighted potential delays in the search due to expected rain and thunderstorms in the region on Monday.

On Sunday, rescuers discovered the first victim, a 46-year-old man, near Crystal Rapids on the Colorado River. Details regarding the second victim’s identity have not been disclosed by park authorities.
