Rep. Ilhan Omar’s House Raided Amid Immigration Fraud Investigation

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has been absent from public view after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided her Washington, D.C. residence last week. Despite her absence, Omar’s daughters have been seen at the home. Isra Hirsi parked a black sedan at the residence on Saturday night while carrying a bag.

Recently, another young girl, believed to be Omar’s second daughter, arrived at the house with a caretaker. The raid, reportedly part of an immigration fraud investigation, occurred a week prior. Omar shares three children with Ahmed Hirsi, her husband.

Her daughters’ visits happened around a week after federal agents swarmed the house. Omar’s eldest daughter was seen entering the home, while U.S. Capitol Police also made an appearance on the congresswoman’s street. Capitol Police jurisdiction is usually limited to the Capitol building but extends to protecting members of Congress and their families.

Omar married minority political consultant Tim Mynett in 2020. Mynett visited the residence intermittently post-raid, walking the family dog and expressing no concerns about the investigation. He criticized reporters probing rumors about Omar fleeing the country.

Isra Hirsi, Omar’s 23-year-old daughter, made headlines for her activism. She was arrested at Columbia University, where she studied after being involved in a controversial anti-Israel protest. Hirsi also co-founded the U.S. Climate Strike, a movement advocating for the Green New Deal and renewable energy policies.

In addition to environmental issues, the group pushed for universal healthcare, student debt relief, and land return to Native Americans. Hirsi has publicly criticized capitalism on social media. Meanwhile, Omar’s sister Sahra Noor missed a scheduled book tour stop due to a family emergency. She reportedly spoke voluntarily with federal investigators.

The HSI raid at Omar’s home was related to an immigration fraud probe. Investigators are examining whether Omar or her father falsified citizenship paperwork. Tom Homan, former Border Czar, stated potential consequences could include Omar’s denaturalization.

The New York Times reported that subpoenas were issued to Omar’s relatives. Omar has not responded to requests for comment but addressed the raid via social media. She described the raid as an abuse of power and accused former President Trump of politically targeting her.

Vice President JD Vance clarified that the investigation is not politically motivated, aiming to follow legal guidelines and facts. The aim is to avoid the politicization seen in previous administrations.
