Prolific costume designer Bob Mackie, known for his dazzling and fringed creations worn by pop culture icons like Cher, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Beyoncé, and Miley Cyrus, has passed away. Mackie was born in Monterey Park and had a decorated career as a costume designer. He won several Emmy Awards for his work and also earned a Tony Award. He began his career in the early 1960s, creating gowns worn by Diana Ross and the Supremes and designing looks for stars like Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, and Elton John.

One of his notable achievements was serving as the costume designer for “The Carol Burnett Show.” This role led to a longstanding partnership with pop star Cher. Mackie designed the iconic looks Cher wore in her “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video and numerous red carpet events.
