Lily Tang Williams Wins New Hampshire GOP Primary for Congress

Businesswoman Lily Tang Williams secured a victory in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District primary against three other Republican contenders. Four GOP candidates competed for the chance to turn the district from blue to red, which covers the western part of the state.

Tang Williams, the 2024 nominee for the same seat, outperformed her rivals. An entrepreneur and co-chair of the New Hampshire Asian American Coalition, based in Weare, Tang Williams led in fundraising, amassing nearly $1.2 million compared to Victor Orlando’s $175,000.

A Chinese immigrant who describes herself as a survivor of communism, Tang Williams is known for her open-mindedness and independence. In an interview with WMUR in April, she highlighted her willingness to oppose President Donald Trump when necessary for her constituents.

When questioned about the situation in Iran, she criticized oppressive regimes and advocated for Trump to propose a plan to end the conflict and achieve peace. She also condemned politicians who exploit their positions for personal gain.

Previously, Tang Williams chaired the state’s Libertarian Party. Other candidates in the race, Dan Nicholson and Michael Anthony Callis, received minimal votes.

Both Tang Williams and Orlando presented themselves as center-right candidates in a state governed primarily by Democrats. Although New Hampshire is a predominantly blue state, Tang Williams achieved 47% of the vote in her 2024 campaign.

The district is currently represented by Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H.).
