Joan Jett, the renowned rock musician, has temporarily stepped away from performing due to an injury. She recently underwent orthopedic surgery for a fractured vertebrae.
Due to her health, Jett and her band, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, have canceled their upcoming performances that were planned for September 2026.
Jett’s management shared that she worked with her doctors to decide on the best course of action. The affected shows were to take place in Costa Mesa, California, and Louisville, Kentucky. The announcement noted Jett’s regret at disappointing fans. Instead, she plans to focus on recovery and physical therapy.
The Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa updated fans on this development. Cheap Trick will perform in Jett’s place, with X as the opening act. Ticket holders wishing to see the new lineup need not take any action, while refunds remain available upon request.
In Louisville, Jett was to perform at the Bourbon & Beyond festival alongside prominent acts like Foo Fighters and Chris Stapleton. Despite these setbacks, Jett’s team mentioned her eagerness to deliver more remarkable performances in the future.
Joan Jett’s music journey began in the 1970s with The Runaways. She later achieved fame with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Known for hits like “I Love Rock ’n Roll,” the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
Recently, Jett & the Blackhearts released an acoustic album, “Changeup,” and continued to tour across the world, completing their first U.K. headline tour in 16 years.
