Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of sexual misconduct during their teenage years. On Wednesday, Leto responded to these allegations, stating, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.” The statement was made to The Associated Press.
The BBC released a documentary titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” on Wednesday. It details accusations from four women who allege misconduct and assault by Leto between 2002 and 2016, when they were teenagers and he was an adult. One woman said she was 17 when she was assaulted, another claimed statutory rape at the same age. A third woman, aged 19 at the time, said Leto threatened her with assault. A fourth woman, who was 16, stated that Leto made sexually explicit phone calls and propositions.
The BBC claims it corroborated these accounts but they could not be independently verified by the Associated Press. The documentary does not fully disclose the women’s identities. The BBC reported that Leto did not respond to their requests for comment regarding the documentary. Additionally, The Associated Press reached out to the BBC for a response to Leto’s denial.
Previously, nine women accused Leto of misconduct in a story published by Air Mail last year. Leto’s representative denied these allegations at that time.
Jared Leto is an Oscar-winning actor known for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” He is also the lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars and recently starred as Skeletor in “Masters of the Universe.”
