Cameron Khansarinia, chief of staff to exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, spoke on ‘Sunday Morning Futures’, expressing concerns about a possible peace deal between President Donald Trump and the Iranian regime. He highlighted the skepticism among Iranian people towards the ‘dishonest brokers’ in Tehran and their reluctance to believe in a lasting agreement.
Khansarinia criticized the Islamic Republic and its affiliates for years of oppression, reflecting the unease among Iranians that the regime, which has maintained control for 47 years, may receive a reprieve.
‘The people in the country with whom we speak on a daily basis, frankly, are nervous. They’re nervous that their regime, which has held them hostage for 47 years, might be thrown a lifeline yet again,’ Khansarinia noted.
He emphasized that Iranians seek full freedom and consider any agreement with the current regime as invalid, since they do not accept its authority.
Khansarinia also stressed the importance of examining the specifics of any deal, maintaining that the regime has consistently failed to honor past agreements and will manipulate terms to retain power.
President Trump assessed the negotiations with Iran as ‘orderly and constructive’, reiterating America’s stance to keep restrictions in place until a certified agreement is achieved. He stated on Truth Social, ‘The Blockade will remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached, certified, and signed. Both sides must take their time and get it right. There can be no mistakes!’
In contrast, Khansarinia maintained that the region stands at a crucial juncture. ‘Do we want to finally tip this regime over the edge? Do we want to empower the Iranian people to take their country back, or do we want to sign a deal with this regime that I think we all understand, Iranians and Americans, it won’t abide by?’ he asked.
