Mendoza initially missed Cal’s undergraduate ceremony but was given a second chance during the MBA event thanks to Jenny Chatman, dean of the Haas School of Business. Chatman acknowledged Mendoza’s unique situation, applauding his job negotiations and commitment to both his degree and new job.
“We have one Haas undergraduate student who couldn’t make it to commencement on Wednesday. He used his Haas skills and coursework to negotiate an excellent job and an excellent comp package,” Chatman stated during the ceremony.
