A separate incident in Johnson City, Tennessee, resulted in the arrest of Mikaylee Rae Beirne, aged 31. Authorities charged her with aggravated child abuse and neglect. This followed an incident on July 15, as reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Details of the Incident
Sheriff Keith Sexton stated deputies responded to a disturbance on Cochran Road around 5 p.m. Witnesses informed deputies that Beirne was in a backyard swimming pool with several children, while another adult was inside the home.
According to investigators, a child alerted the adult inside that Beirne was allegedly submerging another child. The adult rushed to the pool and demanded Beirne release the child. She reportedly refused. The adult then intervened, pulling Beirne away and rescuing the child.
Aftermath and Arrest
Another adult arrived at the scene and briefly interacted with Beirne before the authorities were present. Beirne left the area before law enforcement arrived. Emergency personnel were summoned, and the children were taken inside. The child involved sustained minor injuries and bruises.
Deputies later found Beirne and placed her under arrest. She remains in custody at the Washington County Detention Center with a bond set at $50,000.
