South Carolina authorities have formally announced the cause of death for actress Hayden Panettiere. The toxic effects of multiple drugs led to her accidental death, providing answers to the public speculation surrounding the incident. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported that Panettiere’s death was due to the toxic effects of several substances, including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Emergency Response and Investigation

On August 16, at approximately 1:51 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a cardiac arrest. First responders arrived at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, where Panettiere was found in cardiac arrest. Despite life support efforts, she was declared dead at 2:32 p.m. Panettiere had been staying temporarily at this location when her death occurred.

The coroner’s office conducted a parallel investigation with the Greenville City Police Department. An autopsy ruled out violence or external causes, confirming toxic drug effects as the cause of death.

Toxicology Findings

The coroner’s report highlighted fentanyl as a contributing factor in Panettiere’s death. Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, is a key player in the overdose crisis in the United States. The presence of 4-ANPP, a compound used in fentanyl manufacture, was also noted.

Other substances contributing to the death included alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Alprazolam, known as Xanax, is used for anxiety disorders. Methocarbamol serves as a muscle relaxant, while quetiapine treats conditions such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder.
