Dominik Mysterio is gaining recognition as one of WWE’s marquee stars. As the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, he has emerged as a prominent heel, especially as part of The Judgment Day faction. His achievements include two intercontinental championships and the AAA Mega Championship.
Dominik will play a significant role in AAA’s Triplemania 34, occurring over two days—Friday in Las Vegas and Sunday in Mexico City. He will support Omos in his match against his father, Rey Mysterio, who aims to be reinstated to the AAA roster. El Grande Americano will support Rey Mysterio. On the second night, Dominik and El Grande Americano will compete for the AAA Mega Championship. This adds to the ongoing saga between Dominik and his father, who have grown apart since Dominik’s association with The Judgment Day. Dominik has referred to his father as a “deadbeat” due to their intertwined careers.
When interviewed by OutKick Dropkick before Triplemania 34, Dominik shared his thoughts on ending the feud with his father. “I think, for me, what would genuinely satisfy is if he surrendered his mask,” he explained. According to Dominik, having his father apologize, hand over the mask, and retire would signify the perfect resolution.
In Lucha Libre, removing an opponent’s mask symbolizes disrespect. Masks are often wagered to settle fierce rivalries, a practice illustrated earlier this year in a match between El Grande Americano and the original El Grande Americano. Whether Dominik’s vision will materialize is uncertain. Rey Mysterio, even at 51, still performs at a high level and holds the position of AAA general manager, showing no signs of stepping aside.
The opening night of Triplemania 34 is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and it will be streamed on YouTube.
