Senator Bernie Moreno, engaging in a social media clash with his former son-in-law, suggested Miller should resign from his congressional seat. Miller retaliated, accusing Moreno of political maneuvering. Miller issued a statement addressing Moreno’s public remarks, claiming that he had private conversations with Moreno without disclosing them publicly until now. He emphasized addressing allegations falsely perpetuated by Moreno’s daughter.
Several Republican lawmakers have supported Moreno or expressed concern over the dispute. This occurs shortly before a Wednesday ballot deadline in Ohio, which allows Miller time to withdraw and enables Republicans to initiate a fast-paced replacement primary for the seat.
Following reports of several GOP senators supporting calls for Miller’s resignation, Miller affirmed the accusations against him have been deemed unsubstantiated by the court system and the court-appointed mediator.

If Miller withdraws, several Republican candidates could step in. Sources have mentioned individuals such as State Representative Mike Dovilla, a former appointee to the Office of Personnel Management; former U.S. Representative Jim Renacci, known for his political presence in Northeast Ohio; State Representative Melanie Miller; and former State Senator Kevin Coughlin.
Renacci expressed interest to Axios, contingent upon Miller’s withdrawal, citing his political ties and name recognition as incentives. He remarked on receiving numerous requests to consider running, though expressed belief in Miller’s intent to maintain his candidacy.
President Trump also shared his thoughts on the issue. He commented favorably on Miller, expressing his hope for the families to resolve the matters themselves. Trump acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, having personal ties to Miller, and noted the challenging nature of Miller’s reelection bid.
Miller’s Defiant Stand
Amid growing scrutiny, Miller broadcasted a livestream strongly refuting the abuse allegations. He emphasized the negative impact on his reputation, family, and particularly his daughter. Miller asserted no court or agency confirmed the abuse accusations, and no criminal charges were pursued.
Miller shared documents prepared by his attorneys, inviting public review related to the dispute. Emily Moreno’s spokesperson, Stefan Mychajliw, countered, criticizing Miller’s public defense as deceptive and damaging for the family.
