Adam Copeland and Christian Cage Clinch AEW Tag Team Titles at Double or Nothing

In New York, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage ended a 25-year drought for tag team titles on Sunday. They defeated Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to claim the AEW Tag Team Championship at the event, Double or Nothing.

The match between Copeland, Cage, and FTR was intense. It featured the use of ladders, tools, and even a flaming table. Despite the escalating intensity, all four competitors were determined to continue.

Cage endured having his arm smashed multiple times, while Wheeler suffered a significant nose injury. Barbed wire also caused injuries to the wrestlers.

During the match, Stokely Hathaway, representing FTR, attempted to interfere. However, Beth Copeland, known previously as Beth Phoenix, made a surprise appearance. Though her initial impact was minimal, she influenced the fight’s outcome.

At one point, Harwood set a table ablaze with lighter fluid. Wheeler almost drove Beth Copeland through it, but Hathaway was driven into the table instead.

After this turn of events, Copeland and Cage focused on Harwood, locking him in multiple submission holds. Beth Copeland handed her husband a spiked bat to further pressure Harwood. Eventually, Harwood conceded by saying, “I quit,” securing the titles for Copeland and Cage.

Copeland and Cage found success as a team before, capturing seven tag team titles in WWE. After moving to AEW, neither managed to achieve a championship until now. Their last title win was in April 2001 at WrestleMania X-7, although they lost it shortly after to Kane and The Undertaker.
