Illegal Immigrant Stalks and Fatally Shoots California Woman

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported a tragic incident involving a California woman, Shalini Thakur, aged 38, who was fatally shot outside a Sacramento County Panera Bread. The perpetrator was identified as Rohit Rohit, an illegal immigrant from India. Authorities revealed that Rohit had been stalking Thakur for several months and was under a restraining order.

On the day of the incident, Thakur was standing near her car when Rohit approached her. She attempted to flee, but Rohit chased her and fatally shot her in the head. Following the attack, he drove away but was later caught up by police officers. According to officials, Rohit took his own life during the confrontation.

This tragedy could have been completely avoided if the Biden administration had not released this individual into the country, a DHS spokesperson stated. They also urged that sanctuary policies should be reevaluated to prevent further harm to American lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.

ABC 10 reported that Thakur and Rohit’s interactions began when he worked as a DoorDash delivery driver. He parked outside her home for extended periods and engaged with her daily. Thakur eventually obtained a restraining order against him after enduring months of harassment since January, including finding an Apple AirTag placed under her car hood. Rohit attempted to control her social life, coerced her into marriage, and issued threats involving firearms.

Moreover, Rohit deflated Thakur’s car tires and followed her to her workplace, pretending to offer help. It was alleged that he obtained a copy of Thakur’s apartment key and entered her home while she slept.

Rohit entered the U.S. illegally through Arizona in August 2023 and was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol. He was later released under a policy that allows migrants a court date appearance before a judge. Despite the restraining order acquired in May, Rohit continued his pursuit of Thakur through July.

Thakur’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, expressed frustration over the lack of action despite numerous reports to the police. She could have been saved. She informed the police numerous times, but nobody acted, she remarked.

The situation also highlights the position of DoorDash, which did not provide a comment in response to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
