Uganda Withdraws from Invictus Games in Support of King Charles III

The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry to support wounded veterans, faces a setback as Uganda announces its withdrawal. Uganda’s military commander, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, revealed the decision on social media, expressing the country’s support for King Charles III and the monarchy.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, known for his outspoken social media presence, made the announcement on Wednesday. He is the Chief of Defence Forces in Uganda and the son of President Yoweri Museveni.

Kainerugaba posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the Invictus Games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval.”

Efforts to obtain comments from Prince Harry’s representatives and the Ugandan government’s media team are ongoing.

General Kainerugaba had previously left X but returned in January 2025, declaring his intention to “shake up this world.”

This situation continues to unfold, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
