The Buffalo Bills experienced relief regarding wide receiver DJ Moore’s injury after their narrow 29–26 defeat to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Moore exited the game in the second quarter following a fall on his left shoulder during a pass attempt from quarterback Josh Allen. His shoulder had been a concern since Week 2, when he initially injured it.
Despite the re-aggravation of the shoulder injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that it is not expected to be a long-term issue. This news is promising for the Bills and Moore, with the potential for him to play in Week 5. The team’s upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams on ‘Monday Night Football’ provides an extra day for Moore to rest and recover.
The matchup against the Rams is pivotal for Buffalo, as they look to compete against an unpredictable team. Moore had been Allen’s primary receiver over the first three weeks, securing 11 catches for 167 yards. However, Keon Coleman seized the opportunity to step up after Moore’s early departure on Sunday. Coleman has now amassed 217 yards this season, surpassing Moore for the lead.
The spotlight is now on Coleman to demonstrate his value. Earlier concerns about his performance led to multiple inactive games last season, causing some skepticism among fans and the team’s owner, Terry Pegula. The Bills later acquired Moore from the Chicago Bears, positioning him as Allen’s key target. Nonetheless, Coleman aims to prove his capability as a strong secondary option.
