Kenneth Walker III Shines with Kansas City Chiefs, Breaks Records

Kenneth Walker III is excelling with the Kansas City Chiefs after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks. This move stands out as one of the Chiefs’ best decisions in recent years, with significant results already appearing.

In four games, Walker has rushed for 537 yards, leading the NFL by over 100 yards. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that with these stats, Walker has broken the Chiefs’ franchise record for rushing yards from Weeks 1 to 4. Considering the Chiefs’ history of legendary running backs, this achievement is remarkable, especially for a reigning Super Bowl MVP just weeks into his Kansas City tenure.

The last time an NFL running back reached this yardage in the season’s first four weeks was in 2014, when DeMarco Murray recorded 534 yards. Interestingly, Murray now serves as the Chiefs’ running backs coach, creating an interesting player-coach connection.

As the season unfolds, Walker will be a player to watch. The potential exists for him to become the 10th running back in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. He is also on pace to challenge Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards.

Last season, Walker recorded 1,027 yards; now, he is over halfway to that total. Achieving a career-best seems highly probable.

Walker has secured 14 consecutive wins, a streak beginning on November 23 during his time with the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks last year. The Chiefs remain undefeated this season at 4–0. Patrick Mahomes continues to rely on Walker to carry the ball, a strategy proving successful for the team.

The Chiefs’ run game might receive more focus as the team assesses injuries to wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, both leaving Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders early. With a bye week ahead, the Chiefs have extra time to address any receiver concerns.

Walker demonstrated his ability once more in Sunday’s game, amidst various injuries affecting Kansas City players. He carried the ball 22 times for 177 yards and scored two touchdowns, his best performance of the season, marking another milestone in franchise history.
