On Sunday night, a shooting incident took place in East Los Angeles, following the World Cup soccer game between Mexico and England. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that four people were injured by gunfire.
The confrontation occurred around 9:35 p.m. at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue. According to authorities, a person opened fire after an argument, wounding two men, a woman, and a minor. The two men were targeted in the attack and were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The woman and the minor, who was male, managed to leave the immediate vicinity. They later reached deputies at a different location and were subsequently taken to the hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries. As of Monday morning, officials had not released further details about the shooter.
The shooting took place as people gathered to celebrate Mexico’s participation in the World Cup tournament. Mexico was eliminated from the competition after losing 3-2 to England.
