Law enforcement is urgently searching for a young girl abducted by her father, as confirmed by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. An AMBER Alert is active for 5-year-old Amaya Meithof, taken from a residence in Carson City, Nevada, at approximately 4:36 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities believe Amaya is with her father, 41-year-old Christopher Meithof. His last known address is in Federal Way, Washington. Investigators suspect the father is traveling south toward Quartz Hill, California.
Suspect and Vehicle Details
The public is urged to help locate the suspect’s vehicle, a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bearing Oregon license plate number 576 QNU.
- Suspect Description: Christopher Meithof is 6 feet tall, approximately 170 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.
- Victim Description: Amaya Meithof was last seen in a blue princess nightgown. She has common allergies but is otherwise well.
Public records show Meithof has previous convictions for burglary and weapons possession and is currently on parole. Although the sheriff’s office confirmed he is Amaya’s father, further details about the search were not available as of midday Monday.
Family Appeals for Help
Amaya’s mother, Crystal Rose, has made emotional pleas on social media, asking for community support in finding her daughter. “He came to visit her and took her and disappeared,” she mentioned in a Facebook post. “I didn’t want it to come to this, but this is not how we do things.”
Crystal urged others to share her post widely, expressing her hope with, “Please help me bring my peachy home safe.” Attempts to reach Christopher Meithof directly were unsuccessful midday Monday, and Rose did not immediately respond to inquiries for additional comments.
