Although John Cena has stepped away from the ring, he and WWE star Cody Rhodes are still competing, virtually. They are taking part in a unique crossover event with the popular mobile game, Clash of Clans, which Rhodes has enjoyed for a decade. In this venture, Rhodes and other players are tasked with finding Cena’s base in the game.
The event, called “Search for Cena,” runs through September 30. Rhodes shared his excitement with OutKick Dropkick, expressing the vast reach of Clash of Clans players worldwide. He reminisced about joining the game during WWE tours, bonding with other players, including Cena.
“He had the O’Leary Klan and was a strong clan leader until he wasn’t. Some real tyrant behavior, I’d say, from the record-breaking John Cena,”Rhodes commented.
The crossover allows players to target Cena’s base, aiming for a perfect raid. Throughout the experience, Rhodes enjoys seeing his in-game character and the special skins available, such as the new “Barbarian King” skin featuring shades and music.
Rhodes revealed Cena’s competitive role in introducing him to the game. After being removed from Cena’s clan, the OLK, Rhodes and others formed the Nicky Clan, still active today. This rivalry in Clash of Clans became a playful reflection of their WWE rivalry.
Cena humorously noted in a press release that their rivalry began in the game, not the ring. He recalled out-raiding Rhodes, leading to his removal from the clan. Now, Rhodes seeks the help of millions to beat Cena’s base.
Rhodes appreciates his inclusion in the game he has long played. Unlike appearing in traditional wrestling video games, this collaboration feels unique. Rhodes’ “Barbarian King” character launched last year, reinforcing his bond with the Clash of Clans community.
The event also features other WWE stars. Alexa Bliss appears as “Archer Queen,” Undertaker as “Grand Warden,” Iyo Sky as “Royal Champion,” Jey Uso as “Minion Prince,” and Kane as “Dragon Duke.” These heroes add to the diverse lineup of characters available to players.
Downloaded over 2 billion times, Clash of Clans remains a favorite among mobile gamers. The WWE collaboration continues to bridge the gap between gaming and wrestling fans.
