Vice President Vance’s Family Responds to Attacks

Beverly Vance Aikins, mother of Vice President JD Vance, expressed her frustration over comments made by Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. When asked by Outkick and Fox News host Tomi Lahren about her thoughts regarding El-Sayed’s remarks, Aikins jokingly mentioned she would like to ‘punch the guy’ if she ever met him. Despite her anger, she decided to ‘go with the flow.’

During an interview, Aikins discussed her past struggle with opioid addiction, Netflix’s depiction of her life in ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ and her son’s rise to the vice presidency. Her comments highlight family tensions as El-Sayed continues to criticize Vance and his family.

Also, Vice President Vance took a moment to celebrate his mother’s decade of sobriety at the White House in April 2025, recognizing her accomplishments amid external criticism.

In an appearance on ‘The Allen Analysis Show,’ El-Sayed commented on Second Lady Usha Vance and the couple’s children. He implied that Vance’s political stance contradicts his children’s biracial background, suggesting Vance views his own children as less belonging in America. Aikins described the comments as rooted in jealousy, given JD Vance’s position and family status.

El-Sayed went further by hoping that Vance’s children might one day challenge their father’s political views. He even hinted that Second Lady Usha Vance should leave the vice president, suggesting she still had time to ‘get out.’

El-Sayed reiterated his criticism after Vice President Vance condemned him for supporting Sharia law during an Ohio rally, suggesting the practice would be unfamiliar to Vance’s grandfather. El-Sayed’s remarks about the Second Lady’s Indian ethnicity continued to stir controversy.

Responding to these comments, Vice President Vance during a rally for GOP Senate nominee Mike Rogers in Michigan stated, ‘The people of Michigan might find it strange when you talk about another guy’s wife.’ He also advised El-Sayed to keep his wife’s name out of the conversation, asserting that she’s ‘out of your league.’

Fox News Digital reached out to both the Vice President’s office and El-Sayed’s campaign for responses to the ongoing controversy.
