Trump’s Plan to Revitalize Hollywood

Trump Appoints Hollywood Ambassadors

President Donald Trump announced his appointment of Jon Voight as a special ambassador to Hollywood. Voight, along with Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone, will act as envoys to address the challenges facing the industry.

Trump expressed satisfaction with a recent meeting with Voight, highlighting the actor’s dedication to the film and television sectors. Trump shared on his Truth Social platform that Voight advocates for revitalizing the industry, which he believes is in decline, shifting production to countries like Canada.

Concerns About Hollywood’s Decline

Trump criticized Hollywood’s current state, calling it a “Complete and Total Disaster.” He pointed out the lack of incentive for production in the U.S., which affects the Californian economy.

Proposed Federal Tax Incentives

Voight and other industry leaders proposed federal tax incentives to boost domestic film and television production. Trump suggested bipartisan support to create legislation aimed at revitalizing the entertainment sector.

According to Trump, these incentives would benefit the economy by generating significant revenue for the Treasury. Meetings with political leaders are planned to discuss this initiative.

A Vision for Hollywood’s Future

Voight’s proposal includes various measures, such as co-production treaties with foreign nations and infrastructure subsidies. The plan also involves job training and strategic tariffs to encourage domestic production.

The proposal has received support from Motion Picture Association Chairman Charles Rivkin, who believes a federal incentive would bolster local economies and enhance the U.S.’s competitive edge.

Special Ambassadors Initiative

Trump revealed his Special Ambassadors program to promote Hollywood during his second term. The initiative aims to re-strengthen Hollywood’s presence by assigning industry veterans like Stallone, Voight, and Gibson.

The ambassadors will provide insights to Trump as he seeks to restore the industry’s prominence.

Comprehensive Plan Submission

In May 2025, Voight, alongside Steven Paul, submitted a detailed plan to Trump. Meetings involved numerous industry organizations to discuss strategies for increasing U.S. film production.

The comprehensive proposal is under review by the White House and seeks to level the playing field for domestic productions.
