Trump’s Impact in New Hampshire Primary

President Donald Trump achieved a significant win in New Hampshire. His endorsed candidate, Anthony DiLorenzo, claimed victory in the Republican primary for the state’s 1st U.S. House district. This district is considered a battleground area.

DiLorenzo, a businessman, triumphed over Hollie Noveletsky, owner of Novel Iron Works, and state Rep. Brian Cole. The district is currently represented by Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

Pappas’s pursuit of a Senate seat leaves his House position open. The Cook Partisan Voting Index rates the seat as D+2, hinting at a Democratic advantage. However, a strong Republican candidate could change the outcome come November.

The 1st Congressional District covers parts of southern New Hampshire, including Manchester, the most populous city. In 2022, former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt ran for this seat, narrowly losing to Pappas by under 10%.

During recent candidate debates, the GOP contenders shared many views. The final debate, hosted by WMUR, focused on DiLorenzo’s position on illegal immigration. He suggested prioritizing the deportation of felons and violent criminals over those without criminal records in the U.S., as reported by NHJournal.

Noveletsky challenged DiLorenzo’s stance, opposing the idea of providing any illegal immigrant with a path, even if working upon arrival. In response, DiLorenzo emphasized his support for law enforcement and a focus on deporting those posing dangers, such as criminals or drug dealers.

Trump endorsed DiLorenzo in July, highlighting his business acumen and commitment to America First policies. His support includes creating jobs, cutting taxes, and promoting American energy.

DiLorenzo also received endorsements from House Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Noveletsky garnered support from several New Hampshire state officials and House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx.
