President Donald Trump has revealed new information regarding the United States’ negotiations with Iran shortly after both countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aiming to end ongoing conflicts. In a conversation with Axios’ Marc Caputo, Trump addressed the 14-point agreement and refuted claims suggesting it doesn’t equate to an unconditional surrender from Iran.
“Well, it really is unconditional surrender,” Trump stated in response to Caputo’s questioning.
Trump elaborated on the situation, asserting that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly diminished. “They have no military, they’re all at the bottom of the sea. 159 ships, that’s what they had,” he claimed. Trump further emphasized how U.S. military efforts had decimated Iran’s operations, including the execution of influential leaders.
Focusing on military accomplishments, Trump noted the substantial loss of Iranian aircraft and naval vessels. “There’s no airplanes,” Trump said, “they had 200, now they’re gone. Navy, 159 ships, all at the bottom of the sea. Their leaders, first stringers are all gone, including Khomeini.”
Trump discussed covert operations conducted by the U.S. over two months, targeting Iranian ships through nightly missions while remaining undetected. “For the last two months, I’ve been taking many ships out there and nobody knew it because we knocked out their radar and defense,” Trump explained. He detailed the sequence of events leading to the eventual detection and announcement of operations.
Addressing economic aspects, Trump declared his intent to open the Strait of Hormuz for oil trade, asserting that the U.S. stock market surged due to anticipated deals. Trump emphasized his position that Iran would not obtain nuclear weapons. The MOU mandates both parties cease hostilities and reopen the Strait, paired with nuclear discussions.
Trump praised his administration’s achievements in lowering crime rates in Washington, D.C., touting a significant reduction in crime and cosmetic improvements to the city.
“We’ve transformed Washington, D.C., from a death trap to one of the safest cities in America,”Trump claimed, referencing a 94% drop in crime within a year.
