President Donald Trump is urging nations with Muslim majorities to join the Abraham Accords as a condition for engaging in a potential Iran agreement. Multiple reports indicate this strategy aims to normalize diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries.
During a recent phone call with regional leaders, Trump encouraged Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, and Jordan to formalize ties with Israel. He emphasized the United States’ efforts to piece together this intricate diplomatic arrangement and suggested that signing the Accords should be obligatory for these countries.
Trump’s remarks appeared on Truth Social, where he elaborated on his discussions with regional leaders, urging them to commit to the Abraham Accords. The accords, which began in 2020, initially included the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, marking a historic move towards regional peace.
The President also mentioned potential discussions with the UAE and Bahrain. He speculated that Iran might eventually participate in the Abraham Accords, which he described as a significant development.
In related discussions, Trump highlighted the U.S. military’s role in safeguarding American interests from threats posed by Iran and its allies.
Despite these initiatives, U.S. and Israeli officials do not anticipate progress with the UAE until after Israel’s elections scheduled for September.
