Trial Health Measures for D.C. Shooting Suspect

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, charged with the shooting of two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. last fall, remains in legal custody as authorities ensure he faces trial. The incident resulted in the death of one soldier.

Lakanwal has been subjected to force-feeding as he abstains from consuming food and water. Officials resorted to this measure to maintain his health for the trial process. His medical condition has reportedly worsened, yet specific details from court records are not disclosed. He was admitted to a hospital in July.

A makeshift memorial for Spec. Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe stood near Farragut West station. It marks the location of last year’s shooting incident involving Lakanwal, which remains under judicial proceedings.
