TikTok influencer Sara Gilson, known online as Sara Duffey, had made headlines weeks before her untimely death by alleging serious accusations against her husband. In a shocking turn of events, both Gilson and her husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, were found deceased in her Oklahoma home. Local authorities suspect a murder-suicide motive.
On July 11, Gilson posted a TikTok video accusing her husband of being a pedophile. She captioned it, “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex-husband who I just found out is a pedophile.” The video was still accessible on her TikTok account recently.
Thirteen days following the viral post, on July 24, police responded to a domestic call at Gilson’s residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered both Gilson and Duffey with fatal gunshot wounds as reported by local station KTUL.

KTUL cited a family member who claimed that Duffey, 48, forced entry into the home, killed Gilson, and then himself. Confirmation of the couple’s identities came from the local outlet KRMG, although police did not officially declare it as a murder-suicide. Authorities assured there was no ongoing threat to the public.

A juvenile within the home made the 911 call that brought police to the scene. Earlier, on June 10, Gilson had secured a protective order requiring Duffey to stay 100 yards away. Another woman had also filed a protective order the same day, after Duffey allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with her teenage daughter.
Reports indicate Duffey was seen with the girl, whom he coached, and had been inappropriately messaging her, as published by The Oklahoman. He allegedly paid the girl to remain silent about his actions.

Owasso Police Department had received a report of these allegations. Gilson tried to protect herself legally against Duffey multiple times, filing two previous protective orders which were dismissed when she failed to appear at hearings, according to People.
