A 16-year-old named Colt Gray has admitted guilt to 55 charges, including the murder of four individuals in a shooting incident at Apalachee High School in Georgia. This incident, which occurred nearly two years ago, resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers. Gray entered the plea without negotiating an agreement with the prosecutors.
The events unfolded on September 4, 2024, affecting a community 45 miles northeast of Atlanta. The high school, which serves 1,900 students, saw several others injured as a result of Gray’s actions. Only 14 at the time, Gray faced charges as an adult. His trial was expected to begin in mid-October.
In an earlier trial, his father, Colin Gray, faced conviction on charges such as second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, due to providing his son with the assault weapon used in the attack. His sentencing is set for the coming week.

The shooting claimed the lives of teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53, along with students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14. Additionally, one more teacher and eight students suffered injuries, with seven of them sustaining gunshot wounds.
The presiding judge, Nicholas Primm of the Barrow County Superior Court, ensured Colt Gray understood the gravity of his plea and acted willingly. Gray acknowledged his understanding. A student who survived the shooting described an overwhelming fear upon seeing Gray with a weapon. After realizing she had been shot, she endured numerous surgeries and was unable to walk for a year, battling severe anxiety afterward.
Principal Jessica Rehberg called for the severest penalties for Gray’s actions. The hearing is projected to continue, with Gray’s defense planning testimonies from mental health professionals and family members.
